The 2000 Latour is a perfect wine... It offers an extraordinary bouquet of crème de cassis, graphite, licorice, and subtle smoke. The palate is full-bodied, dense, and powerful, yet with remarkable precision and freshness. The tannins are silky, and the finish lasts over 60 seconds. This is one of the immortal Latours, in the same league as the 1961 and 1982.

Latour has made truly great wines in the past two decades—and this is one of the best. It has fabulous aromas of black truffles, currants, raspberry and dried flowers. Mind-blowing on the palate, it’s an emotional and soulful red.
