Description
Often referred to as "Baby Grange", Penfolds Bin 389 is one of Australia's most iconic premium red wines. First produced in 1960 by the legendary Max Schubert, Bin 389 combines the firm structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness and generosity of Shiraz. Part of the wine is matured in the same American oak barrels previously used for Penfolds Grange, contributing additional complexity and signature character.
The 2018 vintage is regarded as one of the finest recent releases, benefiting from excellent growing conditions across South Australia. It delivers exceptional fruit purity, impressive concentration and outstanding balance. Rich black fruits, cedar, dark chocolate, mocha and spice are seamlessly integrated with refined tannins and beautifully judged oak, creating a wine of remarkable depth and elegance.
Powerful yet polished, Penfolds Bin 389 2018 is superbly approachable in its youth while possessing the structure to develop further over the next 20–30 years, making it one of Australia's benchmark Cabernet Shiraz blends.
